Thanking the people “Behind the apron

Creative Direction, Ideation, Writing, Production Oversight for Questus

As one of the nation’s largest employers, The Home Depot owes a great deal of gratitude to the people who live and work “Behind the Apron.” To thank their front-liners for another year of service, The Home Depot chose three exemplary team members who represent their values: Dawayne, Maureen, and Kierra.

We told their stories through a series of short films, teasers, and a 0:30 broadcast spot. Knowing these down-to-earth Doers would be too humble to talk about themselves, we set up a series of activities and encounters, and captured vignettes that unfold in the Doing—rather than the telling—of the stories.

Thanks to Lou and Amy at The Home Depot, as well as Micah Dudash and the Household Film team for bringing this series to life.

Teasers

Each of our vignettes take place in the star’s hometown, where friends, families, and peers help tell the tales.

Director’s cuts

With stories as rich as the ones we uncovered, we simply had to create director’s cuts for each of our star employees.

Dawayne drives his team to rebuild a home destroyed by hurricane Ida. He bought the school bus with his own funds to make Team Depot events more accessible—and more fun—to more people.

Whether at work or at play, Maureen goes for the gold. We follow Maureen and her family to the dirt racing track—and back to the store, where she and her favorite customer tell of their biggest win.

Kierra reflects on the experiences and people that helped her become the leader she is today—including a long-missed mentor, who shows up out of nowhere.
