Good people

Surprise, surprise—I haven’t gotten this far on my own. Every piece in this book is the result of teamwork by talented creatives, strategists, developers, producers, and business partners. Since I’ve been lucky to meet these good people in my creative journey, I’d like to share a few of their stories, and encourage you to meet them too.*

Arun Talwar

VP of Growth / Business Development Executive

Arun is the director and founder of Agency Noir. Before that, he and I were two members of a Biz Dev dream team. He is a steadfast partner and Business Development Executive who describes himself as, “an agent of change. I build deep relationships and partnerships based on authenticity and transparency. I love to win, but not at the cost of company culture. I thrive in creative environments, and am strategic in moving the bottom line. I strive to help my clients meet their goals by uncovering their business needs and objectives, and crafting strategic marketing and content solutions that deliver results.”

Corey Lewis

Brand Writer / Namer / Creative Director

I was lucky enough to join Twill (FKA Happify Health) while Corey was consulting with the brand team, so we collaborated on a number of brand strategy and creative naming projects. According to New York-based Corey, “My last role was as a Creative Director in Verbal Design at R/GA. I’m now freelancing. The projects I gravitate towards have interesting people, Wikipedia wormholes, and wild, weird creative potential. I work as a collaborator with design teams and as a branding / naming lead for my clients.”

Sami Ross

Senior Copywriter

Sami uses storytelling to bring accessibility into the spaces that need it most. From brainstorming to craft, Sami is an all-round talented creative thinker-slash-doer whose portfolio includes clients like Target, Xbox, Microsoft, Humana, Nature’s Recipe, and the Gender Equality Panel for FCB Chicago. Based in Seattle, Sami is available for freelance and contract opportunities.

Ashley Laabs

Content Strategist / Writer

Ashley and I shared some great agency days in Seattle. That’s how I learned that she’s a content specialist and strategic writer who gets straight to the heart of every single matter. Today Ashley runs Composure Digital, and focuses her talent on turning B2B executives into thought leaders on LinkedIn. Whether you need to up your game with custom content and LinkedIn profile optimization, or you could use strategic social sales coaching—Ashley is the creative executive partner you’ve been looking for.

ALEX FRANK

Strategic Copywriter

Alex and I met over a major corporate rebrand. Together, we navigated the complexities of shaping the future of a mental healthcare startup, uncharted territory for us both. New York-based Alex proved to be a sharp creative who brings a unique outlook to everything she does—whether diving into strategy, copywriting, digital marketing, social media marketing, beauty branding and packaging, or brand identity design. Not to mention, she’s a talented painter / illustrator / DJ too—the full package, and a great teammate.
